DINING out with 25 people is not the easiest. So as we walked into Larwood and Voce with the wedding party, straight from West Bridgford Register Office, I thought it doesn't matter if I get the wrong food - or it's a little bit cold - it's all about the company.

After having enjoyed a blissful wedding with the happy couple in Ibiza, this was the British "seal the deal" so to speak. And Larwood and Voce turned out to be just the right place for it.
The service was spot-on and before our drinks from the bar ran dry, the wine was on the table. Being such a large group we had pre-ordered our food, and soon enough my Cropwell Bishop Stilton, roast garlic and field mushrooms on toast lay in front of me.

Sometimes garlic mushrooms can be too rich and creamy, losing the flavour of the mushrooms, but that was not the case on this occasion. The huge, juicy mushrooms were just drizzled in the garlic and melted cheese - and the crunchy toast completed the perfect bite.

Silence fell upon the table for the first time of the day and not a grumble was to be heard. A glass of wine, and plenty of noisy chatter later, and it was time for the mains.

Not a dish out of time or out of place, but with plenty of steaks being served, there was still room for error. But as my knife cut easily through the meat, revealing a mouth-wateringly perfect medium-rare steak, my fears dissolved. Topped with just a slab of garlic butter and served with chips cooked in dripping (which are definitely worth returning for), the flavour of the steak was perfectly complemented.
As we stole bites from each other's desserts and cheese boards we shared that feeling you only get after a very good meal - a little bit sad that we were too full to eat it all over again."
